Darlene Weeden
November 2nd, 1941 - March 29th, 2020
Darlene Marie Weeden, 78, of Greeley, went to meet her Lord in glory on March 29, 2020 at Fairacres Manor in Greeley, Colorado. She was born to Lawrence and Grace (Williams) Peterson on November 2, 1941 in Denver, Colorado. Even as a child, she loved to sing. She attended north Denver schools and graduated from Manuel High School in 1959. She attended Calvary Temple Church as a teenager and became active in the music ministry as a soloist and in choirs and a women’s trio. In 1960, she enrolled in Central Bible College in Springfield Missouri as a music major. Darlene met Kirby at CBC and they were married at Calvary Temple in 1963. After graduation from CBC in 1965, Darlene and Kirby moved to Fort Collins where Kirby enrolled at CSU as a graduate student. When he obtained a teaching position at Adams City High School, they moved to Westminster, Colorado and Darlene worked as a secretary in a state department in Denver. Son Jeffery Lawrence was born in 1968, and daughter Audra Diane was born in 1972. As their children grew up, Darlene worked at Calvary Temple which became the Weeden’s Church home for over 30+ years. Darlene continued church choirs and was a soloist throughout this time. Pastor Charles Blair who married Darlene and Kirby, also married both their children, Jeffery to Tommi Lynn Rano in 1990 and Audra to Bryan Casseday in 1997. In the nineties, Darlene and Kirby both worked at Calvary Temple where Kirby served as Principal of Calvary Temple Christian Church. They resigned in 1997, when they moved to Dublin, California to take a position at Valley Christian Church. Although they loved living in California and working at VCC, they missed their family in Colorado and decided to move back in 2002. Having lived most of her life in Denver and suburbs, Darlene and Kirby choose to move to Greeley their retirement years. They began attending Greeley First Assembly of God Church. Darlene is survived by her husband and children; grandchildren, Modestina and Christian Weeden and Luke and Merigrace Casseday; sister, Diane (Rodney) Child and many friends and family.
