Darrell Lewis Jensen passed away on August 5, 2020, at the age of 73 after a 9 month battle with cancer. He was a loving husband and father of three children. Darrell was born on June 7, 1947, in Heber City, Utah to George "Newell" and Lucinda (Lundin) Jensen. He married Veronica Byrd on August 17, 1978, and had three children: Elizabeth, Joseph, and Charity. Veronica succumbed to cancer in 1992 at the age of 44. Darrell married Modena Clement on October 4, 1992, after quickly realizing the challenge of raising children on his own. They worked together to raise them into adults. Darrell served in the Northern States Indian Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1966-1968. He developed a great love for the people there. Following his Church service, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served for four years as a chaplain"s assistant, then re-enlisted one year after being discharged to serve another four years as a Veterinarian Technician. Darrell received a Bachelor"s degree from Brigham Young University in 1979, a Master"s degree from Utah State University in 1981 and a Master"s in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in 1990. Darrell loved serving others, whether in his many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or his patients and clients that he helped in his speech therapy practice. He started Executive Voice Enterprises in 1988 and spent many years driving hundreds of thousands of miles all over the Phoenix Metro area helping stroke patients to rehabilitate in their homes. He also opened an office in Mesa in 1995 to help stuttering and vocal injury clients to improve their voice. He always treated his clients in a kind, patient, and friendly manner and was always more concerned about helping the individual rather than making money. He even continued to work during his chemotherapy treatments and while on hospice until two weeks before his death. Darrell worked hard at being self-reliant and helping others learn to be self-reliant. He enjoyed gardening and raising chickens, rabbits, and game birds. He was a friend to all ages, often providing his home as a haven to those who were in trouble or needing a place to stay, and many saw him as the father or grandfather they never had. Darrell was proceeded in death by his mother, father, and first wife Veronica. He is survived by his wife Modena and his three children and their families: Elizabeth and David Cheney and their 4 children; Joseph and Valerie Jensen; and Charity and Randall Reynolds and their 6 children. Darrell will always be remembered for his constant service, immovable integrity, and selfless love.
