Dave Cruz

February 19th, 1958 - January 11th, 2024

Dave Cruz 1958 – 2024 Dave Cruz, 65, passed away on January 11, 2024, at his home in Westminster, Colorado, surrounded by his family. There are so many ways to describe Dave. If you knew him, you know he was kind, loving, a hard worker, a teacher, a Christian, and a giving man. He loved his motorcycle rides, camping, fishing, hunting, and his family. Dave was born on February 19, 1958 to Ernest and Juanita Cruz, who raised him and his four siblings, Sally, Dorothy, John, and Jim. Growing up, they spent a lot of time with their cousins. When Dave was old enough, he joined the Army and spent time in Germany during the Vietnam Era. His first daughter, Maria, was born in Germany. Dave had two more daughters, Andrea, and Christine, who were born in Colorado. Dave raised his daughters as a single parent and his girls meant the world to him. He worked at the Denver Mint and retired with 36 years of Federal Service. Though he loved his motorcycle rides and being a biker, his favorite role was that as a Grandparent. He loved and treasured all the time he spent with his Grandchildren and loved being their “Papo.” He never failed to take them camping, fishing, or to 7-11 after school, just because he could. After raising his daughters, Dave finally met the love of his life, Dolores. She also has three children, Bernadette, David, and Marisa, who he came to love as his own. After dating for a while, Dave asked Dolores to marry him in the driveway of a house that he was purchasing. They were married a short time later and built their life together in that same house. He loved Dolores with his whole heart. He loved their adventures together and was happy to share photos and stories of their travels. We could not have asked for a better Husband, Father, or Grandfather and we will miss him every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him. Dave is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Juanita Cruz, sister Dorothy Montour, and grandson Paul Salas. He is survived by his wife Dolores Cruz, his daughters Maria (Mike) Valanzuela, Andrea (Isaac) Garcia and Christine (Ramon) Cruz and step children Bernadette Herrera, David Griego and Marisa (Luke) Griego. Grandchildren Angelica, Jade, David, Nikolye, Luke, Camren, Brisen, Stacie, and Jylene.

Jimmy McKeehan

David had a strong character. Even in hard times he remained kind. He always listened to his sister Dorothy. His mother always bragged about him. We pray that he be in the Lord’s Rest. Jim McKeehan
