David Lee Bishop, age 71, of Rogersville, went home to be with the Lord, on Saturday, February 2, 2019, at his home with family and friends by his side. He was a 1965 graduate of Lynn View High School in Kingsport, where he resided until moving to Rogersville with his wife. Dave was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served his country during the Vietnam War. He was currently employed at Bharat Forge PMT in Surgoinsville with 22+ years of service. David recently accepted the Lord as his Savior at Randall’s Restaurant in Church Hill, after many years of family and friends praying for him to be saved. After his salvation, he committed himself to attending church regularly and was currently attending Spire’s Chapel Baptist Church. David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and will be greatly missed by his family. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Betty Jo Bishop; parents, Coy and Jo Bishop; sister-in-law, Robbin Bishop; and brother-in-law, Marlin Bradley. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Regina Faye Bishop; 3 sons, Lee Bishop, William “Billy” Bishop (Sarah) and Brent Bishop (Anna); 2 grandchildren, Blaine and Reagan Bishop; brother, Daniel M. Bishop (Kathy); sister-in-law, Linda Bradley; nephew, Christopher Bishop; niece, Tanya Jones (Tony); great-nephews, Cayden Bishop, Noah Bishop and Brad Price (Jessica); great-nieces, Isabella Bishop, Elizabeth Bishop and Kourtnee Helton (Brandon); great great-nephews, Donovan “DJ” Price, Gerald Thomas Price, Ryan Price and Tucker Lee Helton; great great-niece, Brooklyn Helton; special friend whom he loved like a brother, Jerry Barr; special friend whom he loved like a son, Brent “Patch” Gregg (Regina); and a host of extended family and friends. The family would like to thank the staffs of Indian Path Medical Center 5th Floor and Amedisys Hospice for their loving care and support for David during his declining health; also a special thank you to Pastor Tim Nelson for his concern and love in helping lead David to the Lord. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Monday, February 4, 2019 at Spires Chapel Baptist Church in Rogersville. Funeral services will begin at 7:00 pm with Pastor John North, Pastor Tim Nelson and Pastor Rick Gilliam officiating. Military graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Highland Cemetery with American Legion Hammond Post #3/265 presiding. All those wishing to go in procession are asked to meet at Spires Chapel Baptist Church at 12:00 pm. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.cartertrent.com.
