David E. Brackett

David E. Brackett passed peacefully in Loveland, Colorado on June 30, 2018 at the age of 94. David is survived by his children Cathryn Ballenski (husband Philip) of Loveland, Colorado; D. Scott (wife Bettee) of San Jose, California; Randall (wife Laura) of Sequim, Washington; and John (wife Kristi) of Los Gatos, California; and step-son David Hedland of Chicago, Illinois; as well as 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Carolyn (Mann). David was born on November 9, 1923 to David E. Brackett Sr. and Mary C. (Manning). He graduated from Newton High School in Massachusetts. David was an instructor pilot for the Army Air Corps during World War II and then attended the University of Colorado following the war. There, he became the Vice President of Phi Kappa Tau. He ended his working career as a respected executive in the Gypsum Association--where his achievements included testifying on fire safety before a U.S. House subcommittee--and he continued to consult in variety of ways after retiring. He was an avid sailor and golfer. An active leader in many communities, David had a wry sense of humor and enjoyed contributing to various charitable causes.
