David Anthony Campbell

Obituary David A. Campbell, 57, of Fort Collins, passed away on Saturday March 15, 2014 after an extended illness. David was born August 3, 1956 in Toledo, Ohio to Roland and Ruth Campbell. He soon became a resident of Boulder, Colorado where he attended Boulder schools and graduated from Fairview High School. During high school, he spent summers working construction in Yellowstone National Park. After high school he worked in Libya installing irrigation systems and in the oil industry as a mud engineer. He began his college education at the University of Colorado, but later transferred to Colorado State University where he received a degree in Physics. David moved to Fort Collins in 1985 and began work at National Cash Register and Hewlett Packard/Agilent Technologies. He met Laura Gill in Fort Collins and they were married in 2001 on top of Castle Peak near Aspen, Colorado. David loved mountain climbing and successfully solo climbed the highest mountain in South America, Aconcagua, while suffering from plural pneumonia. He loved riding motorcycles, especially very fast ones. His family says that he rode "with his hair on fire". David is survived by his wife Laura, son Orion Campbell-Gill, parents Roland and Ruth Campbell of Boulder, brothers Brian (Susie) Campbell of Los Angeles, California, and Bruce (Holly) Campbell of Phoenix, Arizona and his sister Laucretia (Richard) Thomas of Mexico.
