The family will receive friends following the service at the church. He was born on June 26, 1930 to Iva and Vincent DeCurtis in Philadelphia, PA. Dave loved sports as a teenager, playing football, baseball, and basketball. He graduated from Drexel University in accounting and first worked for Scott Paper Co. He took a two year hiatus and served in the US Army as a First Lieutenant, stateside, during the Korean War era. His leadership in his company and strong faith prompted them to give him the Company Bible when he left. It touched him deeply. Dave went on to work for Georgia-Pacific in Ark and Conn, and then to Texfi Textile Co in Greensboro, starting as an accountant and rising to become President of the company. He later left to open his own Import/Export business for more than 40 years, selling textiles, furniture, lumber and sports equipment. During these years Dave traveled and did business in China and South America. He served on a commission in Washington DC for developing business in South America. He also lectured in the local universities about business. Dave had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening and yard work. He loved to laugh and tell stories of his adventures. Dave was a true gentleman and had a countenance of kindness, gentle strength and a loving heart. Dave was a man of Christian faith and was a member of Wesley Memorial UMC in High Point where he looked forward to his SS class and worship each Sunday. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Terry Hurst DeCurtis of the home; son, David Bryant DeCurtis and his wife, Deborah DeCurtis of Florida; granddaughters, Erin DeCurtis and her husband, Dusty, Jennifer DeCurtis Candler and her husband Will Candler with child Joanna Candler and granddaughter Katie DeCurtis; daughter, Sandra Croxton Riggs and son-in-law Gary Wayne Riggs of Georgia; granddaughter, Nicole Croxton Reece and her husband Matthew Reece and great granddaughter Peyton Reese; grandson, Matthew Thomas Croxton and his wife, Ashley Croxton with child Allie Croxton; his sister, Roberta DeCurtis Sheperd of New York; stepson, Ryan Austin Corbello and his wife, Laura Stephens Corbello with child Kyrie Elise Corbello of Durham ; stepdaughter, Brooke Corbello Smith and her husband Jason Eric Smith, and children Austin Eric, Hunter Jay, and Aubrianna Monica Smith of Idaho and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
