David Vincent Dorsey

David Vincent Dorsey, 79 of Port Charlotte, FL passed away on January 14, 2017, surrounded lovingly by family under the care of Tidewell Hospice in Port Charlotte. He was born to Vincent R. and Marguerite (McGee) Dorsey in New York, NY on September 4, 1937. David was predeceased by his first wife, Anna M. Dorsey and his brothers, Dennis and Terrence Dorsey. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Dorsey; children, Marguerite Lapierre of Taunton, MA, Mary McGonigle of Norton, MA, David V. Dorsey, Jr. of Taunton, MA, Delores Walls Murray of Brockton, MA and Anna Marie Conlon of Taunton, MA; six granddaughters; and two grandsons. David proudly served in the Navy while stationed on the USS San Pablo. In later years, he enjoyed his career as a pipe fitter for the Plumbers Union, Locals 51 and 626. David was an avid reader and loved the ocean, sailing and his dog, Cooper. He was also a history enthusiast. He will be deeply missed by his wife, family and friends. Calling hours will take place on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave., Taunton, MA 02780. David's funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 25 at 9:00 AM from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial with Military Honors at 10:00AM in Saint Andrew the Apostile Church, 19 Kilmer Ave., Taunton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in David's memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the Humane Society at Lakewood Ranch.
