David Leroy Englund

David Leroy Englund, beloved husband and father, passed peacefully on Wednesday, November 30, 2022. He was born on August 31, 1938, to Arnold Englund and Edna (Goodwin) Baier in Rainier, Washington. Dave attended Rainier High School and married the love of his life, Shirley Marie Aschenbrenner, on September 3, 1958. They recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. Dave and Shirley raised three children, Tracy, Mark, and Dee Dee. Dave worked for Rainier House Movers and then for Weyerhaeuser for over 20 years, where he retired. Dave was very active in the community. He was a member of the Rainier Fire Department for over 30 years and served as a Thurston County Fire Commissioner for 17 years. He was a member of the Rainier Sportsman’s Club and Rainier Dance Club. He enjoyed golf, bowling, and baseball in his younger years. Dave and Shirley were members of the Moose Club in Yelm and loved working the annual Fishing Derby. Dave was an avid hunter and loved his time spent at elk camp each year. Dave was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, on November 12, 2022. He is survived by his daughter, Tracy Englund Dietrich (Fred); son, Mark Englund; daughter, Dee Dee Englund (Roger); three grandchildren, Anthony (Melynda), Tyler, and Brittany; as well as two great-granddaughters, Jade and Charlie.
