David P. Gaugler; age 77, of Johnstown, formerly of Gloversville, died Wednesday morning October 28, 2020 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville. He was born October 13, 1943 in Danielsville, PA. He was the son of the late Charles and Alice (Hughes) Gaugler. He served in the US Army from 1961 to 1964 at Aberdeen Proving Grounds. An addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Ruthann (Haswell) Gaugler. He is survived by four children, David P Gaugler, Jr (Janice), Kevin W Gaugler (Laurie), Darleen J Gaugler (Pat) and Ashley D Gaugler (Michelle): four grandchildren: Samantha Barnes, Zackery Luis, Derrick McGuinness and Taylor Gaugler along with 4 great-grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by four sisters as well as many nieces and nephews. He was a life-long knitting machine guru, working in various locations until retiring from Hawkins Fabrics in 2009 after working tirelessly for over 15 years. He was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church serving as council president and member of the men’s club. He enjoyed being outside to enjoy a glorious morning with a his coffee on Lake Sacandaga. He loved gardening, reading, fishing and solving crossword puzzles. He strived to provide every need for his family who were his whole life. Visitation will be Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 1:00pm with a small service at 2:00pm at Grace Lutheran Church, 1 West Montgomery St, Johnstown, NY. Facial covering and social distancing will be required. Memorial donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville.
