David Gordon

Mr. David Gordon, 82, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 in Jensen Beach, Florida. David was born in Rochester, NY on December 24, 1940, son of Hyman and Vera Stone Gordon. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Amsterdam, NY. David grew up working with his father in the family business, The Toy Tent, in downtown Amsterdam. It is here at a young age that David learned the value of hard work, dedication and business savvy. After a number of years as an employee with Collette Manufacturing Company located in Amsterdam, David purchased the company in 1978. He operated the business until it was sold in 1983. Following his time with Collette, David established a business consulting company, helping numerous clients achieve successful outcomes including The Rensselaerville Institute in Rensselaerville, N.Y. David and his wife Clair were married on November 2, 1963. After raising their two daughters, they shared their time between Lake George, N.Y and Jensen Beach, Florida. David served as the President of the Island Dunes Country Club in Jensen Beach. Among his many projects, he proudly helped to lead a team in the renovation of the Island Dunes Golf Course. David will be remembered for his love of family, his quick wit, his stunning smile and his strength in business acuity. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. David is survived by his wife, Clair; his two daughters, Sharon Gordon and her husband James Clark of Syracuse, NY and Debbie Underhill and her husband John of Williston, VT; and his two beloved grandsons, Ryan and Jacob Underhill. A graveside service will take place on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 12p.m. at the Congregation Sons of Israel Cemetery, Cranes Hollow Road, Cranesville, NY with Rabbi Suzanne Schermerhorn officiating.
