David Leroy Hodge
March 17th, 1950 - February 5th, 2022
David L. Hodge, age 71, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022, in Mountain Home. David was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, March 17, 1950, to George and Velma Hodge. He was the eldest of four children. David graduated from Ferris High School in Spokane, Washington. He then joined the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany and served in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged with a Purple Heart as an E5 in 1971. He then started his civil service career with the United States Air Force at McClellan Air Force Base, California. David then met his wife, Jane, while bowling in the base league. They were married in Carson City, Nevada on October 17, 1981. While raising two daughters, he was involved in numerous youth sports that had them traveling around California. He was an avid outdoors man, including fishing, camping and hunting. David’s career in the civil service brought him from California to Idaho. During his career, he was deployed to several countries around the world. He then retired from the civil service in 2017, where he and Jane began to enjoy their retirement together. David was preceded in death by Jane, his wife of forty years, and his parents George and Velma Hodge. David is survived by his daughters Kristi Miller (Ryan) and Sandi Melanese (Ryan); brother Dan Hodge (Doris), sister Carol Sachs (Don) and sister Cynthia Strader (Ron); and several grandchildren. Please join us for a Celebration of Life on March 19, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post 26, 515 East 2nd South, Mountain Home. Cremation as under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Our funeral home opened in 2005 when Jerry and Janette Rost purchased the business. We’ve continued to grow along with Mountain Home. Jerry’s career began more than fifty years ago in Boise, and along the way, he acquired an 1897 horse-drawn funeral carriage, which we proudly display in our facility....
