David E. Kaminski, 68, died Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at the Julie Blair Nursing Home in Albany, New York following a long battle with cancer. Born December 9, 1942 in Amsterdam, he was the son of the late Stanley Kaminski and Josephine Stasz Kaminski. He was a lifelong resident of Amsterdam and short time resident of Poland, New York. In his early years, Mr. Kaminski was a High School calculus teacher in Poland, New York and later would assist in the family's business, Stanley's Chemical Supplies. After graduating from Amsterdam High School in 1961, he attended the University of New York at Plattsburg, graduating in 1965 with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics. Mr. Kaminski had a passion for books, antiques, animals, astrology, basketball, and was an avid New York Yankees fan. David had also written an as of yet unpublished novel. An avid walker, he could be seen around Amsterdam doing untold favors for friends and family. David was also a member of the Amsterdam Library Book Club and attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. He leaves his mother of 96 years, Josephine Kaminski; his sister, Joanne Joyce and her husband Paul; nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends. A Graveside Service of Remembrance will take place on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 1:30p.m. at St. John?s Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home from 12noon until 1 o?clock on Wednesday prior to the service to remember David.
