" Granby- David R. LaPlante, 67, of Batchelor St. passed away May 30 at Holyoke Medical Center. Born December 7, 1938 in Northampton, son of the late Lawrence and Mabel (King) LaPlante Garrow. David has lived in Granby for the past 40 years, previously of Amherst. He retired in 1986 from Excel where he worked as a union laborer. David was previously employed at Roy M. Wright and Lawler. He enjoyed metal detecting with Warren and Edwin along with visits to Foxwoods and buying his daily scratch tickets. David is survived by his wife Muriel (Jenks) with whom he recently celebrated his 48th wedding anniversary. He also leaves his children David Jr. and his wife Judy of Granby, Debbie and her husband Walter Nowak of Three Rivers, and Denise and her husband David Berkebile of Belchertown, along with five grandchildren Josh, Giles LaPlante, Jessica Kimball, Chelsea and Emma Berkebile. David is also survived by two brothers Nelson Garrow of Belchertown and Francis Garrow of Chicopee. He was predeceased by a brother Kenneth L. LaPlante and sister Elizabeth Mihalak. A graveside service will be held Saturday June 3rd at S. Amherst Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of Granby’s Elderly, 257 State St., Granby, MA 01033. "
