Funeral Alternatives of Washington - Tumwater
David Michael LeFevre
October 5th, 1956 - June 24th, 2022
Dave lived in Olympia, Washington, and passed away June 24, 2022, after a nine-month battle with a rare cancer. He was born David Michael LeFevre in Burbank, California, on October 5, 1956. Dave grew up in Saratoga, California, enjoying a wonderful childhood. He moved with his family to Edmonds, Washington, in 1973 and graduated from Woodway High School. Dave earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Washington, going on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Sciences and then a Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University in 1983. Dave opened a private optometry practice in Shoreline until moving to Olympia to join Group Health’s Eye Care Services. In 2013, after 23 years at Group Health, Dave left and purchased DuPont Family Vision Clinic. Dave enjoyed his private practice for eight years until his health deteriorated. He enjoyed his staff and patients very much. His patients appreciated his thoroughness and clear explanations of their eye health. Dave had a wide range of accomplishments, interests, and hobbies. He had an abiding love of music, collecting the work of artists he admired, playing guitar and hammer dulcimer, and attending many live performances. He loved sailing and skiing. He held a private pilot’s license and was a member of the Center O Flying Club at Olympia Airport. Dave volunteered as a HAM radio operator for emergencies and communications during large public events. He also volunteered with Thurston County JEEP Patrol Search and Rescue, spending many hours patrolling the Capitol Forest. Dave relished trips to the ocean, especially for annual optometry conferences in Hawaii for continuing education credits and catching up with colleagues and former classmates. Locally, he enjoyed trips to Cannon Beach and the Washington coast. Dave is predeceased by his parents Leo “Bill” LeFevre and Margaret “Peg” LeFevre and two brothers, Ron LeFevre and Paul LeFevre. Dave is survived by wife, Marla LeFevre; stepdaughter, Kristen Suver (husband, Bret Galyean); mother-in-law, Janice Erickson; brother, James (wife, Susan) LeFevre; and sister, Annette (husband, Dan) Kessler. Dave will be remembered for his kindness, thoughtfulness, high level of personal and professional integrity, for his ability to retain information, and how he added fun along the way. Services for Dave will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1601 North St. SE, Olympia WA 98501, on July 13, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the church. Memorial donations may be made in Dave’s name to Thurston County JEEP Patrol Search and Rescue or the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Please leave condolences or share memories and photos on the Tribute Wall to the left.
