David P. List
October 1st, 1952 - October 6th, 2011
David Patrick List, Sr., 59 of Midline Rd. passed away peacefully with his wife, two sons and seven of his brothers and sisters by his side after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Born in Amsterdam, he was the son of the late Richard and Mary Aiken List. A life long resident, he was a graduate of St. Mary?s Institute and Bishop Scully High School in 1971. David had many jobs in his younger years ranging from DiCaprio?s Diner to Quandt?s Foods, the Belmont and Saratoga Race Tracks. He worked for twenty eight years at the General Electric Company from its main plant in Schenectady where he started in 1976, moving on to its research and development in Niskayuna as an apprentice pipefitter. He retired in 2009 as a chemical operator after being at Waterford plant since 1985. David was a member of the Local IUE 128 and 359. From an early age, Dave loved sports, playing basketball and football . He carried that love to his later years acting as a coach for Perth Youth and the CYO Basketball teams. He was a big fan of the Yankees and Notre Dame. He was a parishioner of St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church. Dave maintained his zest for life, optimism and sense of humor right up until his passing. He will always be remembered for his contagious smile, generosity and devotion to his family and friends. On June 11, 1977 he was united in marriage to the former Theresa Petitti, his soul mate of thirty four years. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by two sons; David P. List, Jr. and his wife Jessica of Laguna Beach, Ca., and Brandon M. List of Amsterdam; siblings, Timothy Barbara List, Richard Marge List, Jr., Mary Jo List, Therese Raco, John Debbie List, Paul Cindy List, Ann Jeff Coons, and Fr. Brian List; brother-in-law Albert LizPetitti and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The Mass Of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11:00 am at St. Mary?s Church, 156 East Main Street, by Dave?s brother, Fr. Brian List. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Sunday from 4-7 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Interment is in St. Mary?s Cemetery, Fort Johnson. Contributions may be made in his name to St. Mary?s Church or St. Mary?s Institute both in care of the funeral home.
