David Maggard

July 18th, 1944 - August 1st, 2024

We regretfully announce the passing of David Lewis Maggard, 80, of Lochbuie , Colorado, who passed away on August 1, 2024 peacefully in his sleep after a long battle with COPD and lung cancer.

 

He will be forever loved, forever remembered, and missed by all.

 

David was born on July 18th, 1944, in Alamosa, Colorado to Earl and Ethel (Burr) Maggard. After working in the perlite mine for over 20 years, David started working for the Colorado Department of Corrections where he retired as an Officer from the Limon Correctional Facility in 2010. 

 

David is best known for his passion for fishing and would get out to the lake every chance he had. Sanchez Reservoir in Colorado, and Lake McConaughey in Nebraska, were two of his favorite places to fish.

 

David was predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Judy Maggard. He is survived by his son, Jerimy L Maggard, his nephew Shannon Stevens and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 

There will be a celebration of David's life on September 14, 2024 from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at 237 Cherokee Ct. Lochbuie, CO 80603. Snacks will be provided.
