David Michael Mahoney, 62, went on his final patrol on September 14, 2011 from his home in St. Petersburg, FL. Born in Cambridge, MA he moved here in 2006 from Medford, MA. David retired as a Federal Police Officer with the ICE Division of Homeland Security. He proudly served in the U. S. Army and is a Vietnam Veteran. Survivors include his wife Ellen, daughters Jennifer Marsan (husband Doyle McKinney); Jill Sassone (husband Edward and daughter Julia); sons Michael Marsan (wife Tracey and children Emma, Katie and Jared); Sean Marsan (wife Kristen and children Jacob, Will, Miriam and Henry); his brother Michael Mahoney (wife Patricia and children Michael, Paul and Danny); sister Joanne Hennessey (husband Bill); and brother James Mahoney (wife Elaine and children Suzzanne and James), Nora and Ken Hibbard and their children Ashley, Christopher and Andrew; Susan O'Neill and her daughters Kim and Tracy; and his lifelong best friend Edward Donahue. He will be truly missed by all of his family, relatives and many friends. Graveside services will be held Friday, October 21, 2011 at 2:15 PM at Bay Pines National VA Cemetery, St. Petersburg, FL. In lieu of flowers, a donation would be appreciated for the Police Memorial for Fallen Officers project in St. Petersburg.
