David Serrano Miramontes, 66, passed away from cancer on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 with the love of his family, peacefully, in the comfort of his home. He was born on October 26, 1944 in Soledad, CA. David was raised in the Salinas Valley and resided in the area all of his life. He graduated from Gonzales High School in 1963 and attended Hartnell College. He was a Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, and continued to proudly serve our country with the National Guard. David worked for the State of California in the Department of Transportation (CalTrans)for 30 years as a heavy equipment operator. David was an avid 49'rs fan, going on walks, playing the Lotto, and collecting coins.He loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart and always made sure they had chips, soda and ice cream. He loved taking drives on River Road, and going to Moss Landing. In his early years, he loved running, especially with his daughter. He is survived by his daughters Gena Miramontes with grandson, Marcos Calderon (16 months) of Lancaster and Deanna Miramontes of Pleasanton daughter-in-law Denise Miramontes with grandchildren, Desiree (14 years) Israel (11 years) Isabelle (10 years) Rosa (8 years) Joseph Miramontes (3 years) sisters Julie Felice Linda M. Wilson brother Robert Miramontes He is preceded in death by son, David Miramontes, Jr. (33 years) brother, William Miramontes (54 years parents, Adolfo (72 years) and Rosie (56 years) Miramontes Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2011 1pm to 9pm at Healey Mortuary 405 N. Sanborn Rd. Salinas, Ca 93905. A Funeral Service with Military Honors will be held on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at 2pm at the Healey Mortuary Chapel. A Cremation will take place.
