David Michael Perna

Mr. David Michael Perna, age 39, of Rockville, Maryland, formerly of Gloversville, died unexpectedly on Sunday morning, December 5, 2010. He and his wife, Eugenia, were visiting friends at that time in West Orange, NJ. He was born February 28, 1971 in Gloversville, NY, the son of Fred Perna and Mary Rhodes Perna. He was a 1989 graduate of Gloversville High School. David then attended Le Moyne College where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. He also graduated from SUNY Albany with a Master's Degree in Political Science. He moved from Gloversville to New Jersey and later settled in the Maryland area. He was employed as an account manager for Cbiz, Inc. of Columbia, MD. David was of Catholic faith and was a member of St. Raphael Church in Rockville, MD where he and is wife, Eugenia Gonzalez Perna, were married. Known as "Madness" by his high school buddies, David was also known as "Super Dave" by his college friends. He was an avid New York Yankees baseball fan and also enjoyed football, music, reading books and comic books. In addition to his wife, Eugenia, of Rockville, MD, David is survived by: his one year-old daughter, Lucia Isabel Perna; his parents, Fred D. and Mary L. Rhodes Perna of Johnstown; his brother, Anthony H. Perna Diane of Johnstown; his sister, Deborah L. Viscosi John of Johnstown; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews who are too numerous to mention. He also leaves behind many dear friends. David will be sadly missed by all who knew him. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a prayer service will take place 9:00 a.m. Friday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church, Fonda, NY with the Rev. Patrick Gallagher as celebrant. Cremation will follow at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady.
