David Andrew Powell, 45, passed away after a short illness on March 21, 2021, in Portland, Ore. He was born January 14, 1976, to William “Bill” and Barbara (Sherman) Powell in Ellensburg, Wash. A 35-year resident of Centralia, Wash., Dave graduated from Centralia High School in 1994. After graduation, Dave served in the U.S. Navy from 1994 to 1997 and was stationed on the USS Willamette (AO-180) at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He became a Certified Welder through Bates Technical College in 2005, and completed Heavy Equipment Operator Training in 2012 through the Operating Engineers Regional Training Center in Ellensburg, Wash. Professionally, he worked in the construction trade as a heavy equipment operator, truck driver, certified welder, and mechanic. At the time of his death, he worked for the City of Centralia as a street/stormwater maintenance tech. He was a member of Washington Teamsters Union Local 252, International Union of Operating Engineers Local 612, and the NRA. Dave married Jaime (Swigert) Coady on August 14, 2012, in a small ceremony on a cold windy beach in Ocean Shores, Wash. He loved his family, both blood and chosen, above all else, and most enjoyed spending time with them. Dave had a big heart and was always willing to help out a friend. He was patriotic, proud and passionate in his beliefs, spontaneous, boisterous, had a contagious laugh. He was always up for an adventure and the life of every party. He loved coaching and enjoyed watching baseball, hunting, fishing, and listening to stories from fellow veterans. Dave is survived by his wife, Jaime Powell of Centralia; daughters, Taylor Powell of Olympia, Jade Coady of Los Angeles, Calif., Bailey Powell and Trinity Coady of Centralia; mother, Barbara Powell of Centralia; brother, Dwayne Powell of Centralia; father-in-law, Norman Swigert of Onalaska; brother-in-law, Cameron Swigert of Tacoma; nephews, Hunter and Parker Swigert; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many close friends.
