David "DJ" O. Powell Jr.

David O. Powell, Jr. (D.J.) David O. Powell, Jr. (D.J.) was born May 14, 1982 in Denver, CO. and passed away on March 21, 2021. He is survived by his father David O. Powell (Carolyn) of Westminster, mother Pamela DiPietro (Joe) of Lone Tree, brothers Cole Powell of Denver and Preston Powell (Jessica) of Golden, his son Cody Powell and grandson Cody Powell, Jr. both of Northglenn and daughter Kieylee Stout. He has many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. D.J. was a talented baseball player in his youth; he loved horses and rode in Westernaires. He inspired and encouraged many people through his personal life experiences, teaching life changing classes within the Colorado prison system. His sweet smile was contagious and his huge laugh was second to none except for his big heart, he was always willing to help others. His quick witted humor always kept you laughing and his love of cooking never left you hungry! David mastered every task he set out to learn, he would write letters, notes and poems that were eloquent and thoughtful, that came from his heart. He loved public speaking, was a truck driver, cook, HVAC tech, and did handyman projects. He had an amazing ability to lead, silly quirky personality, fun loving spirit, a strong love for others and protected those that he loved and cared for. Celebration of his life Services will be on held on Friday April 2, 2021 at Prospect Park, 11320 W. 44th Avenue(and Robb Street), Wheat Ridge, CO 80033 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in David’s name to CDOC – Camp George West PAC Team or SPERO Recovery.
