David S. Rivera, 51, of Main Street, Fort Hunter, passed away Tuesday evening as a result of a motor cycle accident. Born February 22, 1957 in Manhattan, NY he was the son of George and the late Hilda Silva Mercado. David was a graduate of Eastern District High School in Brooklyn, NY and two trade schools for welding and truck driving. He was a self-employed property manager. David loved spending time with his daughter, Anastasia and enjoyed boating, fishing and riding his motorcycle. He was well liked and loved to be around people. Once you had the opportunity to meet David, he was like a personal friend and would do anything to help you. David was of the Roman Catholic Faith. His loving family includes; his companion; Dianna G. Brenn of Fort Hunter, his daughter; Anastasia Rivera of Fort Hunter, his father; George Mercado of Utica, his sister; Mercedes Bryant and her husband Derek of San Diego, CA, one niece and two great nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday evening at 7:00 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. Pascal Iannotti officiating. Cremation will follow at the Vale Crematory in Schenectady, NY. Calling hours will be Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to his daughter Anastasia for an educational fund for her please make your contribution checks out to George Mercado c/o the funeral home.
