David N Sugg

David N. Sugg, 70, passed away at home in Lacey, WA on November 28, 2009. David was born February 27, 1939 in Wichita, Kansas to Jack and Theresa (Mayes) Sugg. He grew up in Wichita where he graduated in 1957 and young David made the decision to serve his country and joined the U.S. Marine Corps, serving from 1957 – 1960. After serving in the Marines, he attended college at Cal State in Fullerton, while working at various jobs, including Disneyland. On September 21, 1968 David married Mary E. Stocke in Kansas City, MO.Starting in 1965 David worked as Credit Manager for White Motors and later Volvo White Trucks, as Branch Manager. He then worked as General Manager for Freightliner through 1986. For the past 9 years, after his retirement, many people in Olympia will remember David as a manager for H & R Block. When not working, spending time with his family was #1 on David’s list of things he enjoyed. He also liked traveling, playing Texas Hold-em, and baseball. Surviving David are his wife, Mary; sons, John D.(Heather) Sugg and Michael A. (Farrah) Sugg; and he was the “Proud Papa” of Elise, James, Spencer, Paige (John and Heather) and Avery (Mike and Farrah). He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Sugg, and Theresa Striley; and his sister, Carolyn Burhite. David had a sheer, loving devotion to his wife, Mary; “All in – all the time”; “What you saw was what you got”. His favorite nicknames were “Sugger” – “Daddy-O” – “Papa Dave”.
