David Irvin Tryggestad

David Irvin "Dave” Tryggestad MD, 58, of Greeley, CO passed away October 5, 2012 in Greeley. He was born on November 1, 1953 in Sioux Falls, SD to Irvin and Margaret (Loen) Tryggestad. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Sioux Falls in 1972. He received his Bachelor of Science, Summa Cum Laude from Augustana College in Sioux Falls in 1976 and graduated from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD in 1980. On December 7, 1980 he married Laurie Anne Yost at First Presbyterian Church in Kearney, NE. Dave completed his internal medicine residency at St. Joseph Hospital, Denver, CO in 1983. He practiced medicine for eight years in Anaconda MT before joining Greeley Medical Clinic where he continued his career until 2012. He liked playing the piano, especially ragtime, Phantom of the Opera theme songs, and hymns. He loved skiing, hiking, snowshoeing, bicycling, and playing baseball and golf with his brother, Bob. Dave enjoyed relaxing on tropical beaches with his family, exploring Disneyland with his daughter, Rebecca and cheering on the Avalanche with his son, Steve. He was a fan of the Rockies, Broncos, Nuggets and Minnesota Twins. He also adored his furry companion, Sophie. Dave served as church deacon at the Assembly of God Church in Anaconda, Montana, facilitated Bible studies in his home and provided hope to others through medical mission trips in Beliz and Uganda. He is survived by his wife, Laurie; son, Stephen; daughter, Rebecca, all of Greeley; mother, Margaret of Sioux Falls; brother Tom and wife Karen of Spring Hill, TN; and brother, Bob and wife Bobbi of Aurora, CO. He was preceded in death by his father. Dave was a highly respected physician for twenty one years at the Greeley Medical Clinic. He is remembered for his excellence, patience, compassion and sense of humor. His fun-loving spirit and tenderheartedness will be greatly missed by his friends and family. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Adamson Chapel, 2000 47th Avenue Greeley, CO 80634. Celebration of Life will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Christ Community Church, 1301 15th Street, Greeley. Memorials may be made to "Christ Community Church, for Gospel Unleashed” or "World Vision” in care of Adamson Funeral & Cremation Services, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634.
