VAN VUREN, David J. died unexpectedly and peacefully at home in the presence of his wife, children and grandchildren on December 27, 2015 of a hemorrhagic stroke, which he suffered on December 24, 2015. Dave's wife, Karen, describes Dave as a "man after God's own heart." Throughout his life Dave was a most kind, gentle, patient, supportive, understanding, steady and loving man. Dave accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior shortly after his marriage to Karen, 53 years ago. He was born in Wausau, WI on August 6, 1942, the son of John and Agnes Van Vuren. Dave worked as a computer service engineer for Burroughs Corp. and Unisys in Flint, MI and Tucson for 40 years. Dave enjoyed traveling and visiting relatives. Dave was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by three children, Twyla Jane Lowry (Charles), Sarah Jo Niegocki (Dann) and David James II (Chrystal). Eleven grandchildren will also miss this special man. Survivors also include his older siblings, Edith Merriam, Donald Van Vuren and Dirk Van Vuren; as well as his sisters-in-law, Donna Bliek (Alan), Joanne VanderLugt (John), Beverly Altena (Aldie), Rose Blankespoor (Morry) and Shirley Engelsman (Ken). Dave was preceded in death by his parents and brothers John and Richard. A Celebration of Dave's life will be held Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Oro Valley Church of the Nazarene, 500 W Calle Concordia at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to Feed My Starving Children, Mesa Fiesta Bldg., 1345 S. Alma School Rd., Mesa, AZ 85210. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Avalon Chapel.
