David Emil Wehner was born in Poughkeepsie, New York on September 20th, 1946 to William Edward Wehner and Edith Louise Sickler Wehner. He is survived by his wife Mary Payne-Wehner, his two step-sons Chad Alan Fouts and Craig Albert Fouts, his 94 year old mother Edith Wehner, sister, Margaret "Peggy" Griswold, brother, William "Bill" Wehner, grandchildren Gavin, Braden, Kaylee and Emilyn Fouts, and a multitude of extended family members and dear friends. David was a graduate of Del Mar High School, Class of 1964. He has kept in touch with and remained friends with many of his Del Mar classmates over these past 50 years. He also attended San Jose State College. Although he had many varied jobs throughout his life, his latest and longest career was as a local freight truck-driver for BTI Trucking, and he was especially proud that he had "one million safe miles" under his belt. David moved to Amador County in the mid-nineteen eighties and lived in Jackson and as of late in Ione, California. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt deer and water fowl with his best friends. He enjoyed a special love of fishing, especially for trout and salmon, as well as deep sea fishing in the Sea of Cortez near La Paz, Mexico. He was also an avid sports fan and especially loved his Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Lakers and San Francisco 49ers. David led a wonderful life, full of adventure and fun, and he loved to regale family and friends with his many stories. Stories that seemed to get better with each telling. He had a lovely, funny sense of humor and a talent for being able to make people laugh. It was a talent that was most prized by his wife and family. David was a man who knew no stranger. Anyone who came into his day/life became a person of interest. His natural curiosity shaped his later years - a man who was interested in art, nature, people in general. He was one with nature- and he could see beauty in the ordinary and extraordinary - a birds wing, the call of a duck, the beauty of a majestic buck, a sparkle on the water, the colors in the sky. He lived his life as fully as he was able and there were no boundaries to his love for his family and especially his beloved wife Mary. David left his mark on all he touched and will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. What more can anyone ask of a person who walked this earth than to leave them more appreciative of what is here to see, taste, touch and know.
