Obituary David Henry Wynn, Jr., 66, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, formerly of New Bern, North Carolina, went to be home with Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior on September 1, 2017. David was educated in the Catholic School System until the 10th grade. He then attended and graduated from J. T. Barber High School, class of 1968. Upon completion of High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served for eight years as a Security Force specialist, obtaining the rank of Sergeant, traveling to many countries during his career. His last duty station was at Kirtland Air Force Base, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. David decided to make Albuquerque his home, and went to work for the Veterans Administration as a Pharmacy Technician. He served the veterans for 22 years in this position. He retired in 2016 with 30 years of government service. From David's first marriage to Jean Doucette, he had two beautiful children, Almitra Simone and Aaron Nathaniel, the loves of his life of whom he was very proud. He met Debra May Listvan in 2009 while both were working at the Raymond G. Murphy Veterans Administration Hospital. They married October 1, 2011. They had a wonderful time traveling and enjoying their time together. Debra remained by his side, caring for him until his death. David was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, and friend, who was willing to go the extra mile to help anyone in need. It was in Albuquerque that he rededicated his life to Christ, whom he loved with all his heart, mind and soul, and was not afraid to let you know. His passion in life was to tell others about the love and salvation that can be found in the name of Jesus Christ. Even in his illness, David's continual trust and praise to God encouraged and uplifted those he met. Sadly, he was preceded in death by his father, David Henry Wynn Sr., his mother, Laura Bryan Wynn, and his sisters Patricia Wynn Garfield and Betty Wynn. He will forever be remembered by his wife, Debra Wynn; one daughter, Almitra Simone and her son Caleb Candelaria of Albuquerque, NM, one son, Aaron Nathaniel of Las Vegas, NV; a step-son Charles Bird of Van Nuys, CA, step-daughter Kristina (Shaun) Ferguson and their sons Maddox and Maverick of Rio Rancho, NM; sisters, Sandra Deans, Lyndia Bizzell (Joseph), Irma Stone, and Teresa Wynn, all of New Bern, NC; Mary Wynn of Charlotte, NC; Lori Carter (Leonard) of Bristow, VA; one brother, Donald Wynn of New Bern, NC; two aunts, Ernestine W. Patrick of Philadelphia, PA and Anna W. Fisher of New Bern, NC; one uncle, Henry Bryan of New Bern, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Memorial service is scheduled for 9am on Tuesday, September 12 at Riverside Memorial Chapel, 225 San Mateo NE, Albuquerque followed by a graveyard service at Santa Fe National Cemetery. After the graveyard service, a reception will be held at a family home. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Defeat GBM Research Collaborative via braintumor.org.
