Dean Willcock Dean L Willcock passed away August 10, 2018 in Eugene Oregon. He was born to the late Albert and Kathleen Willcock on May 13, 1930 in Sutton Nebraska. The family moved to Eugene in 1938. Dean was a 1947 graduate from Eugene High School and was drafted into the Army where he served on the front lines of the Korean War. Dean lived his life with no regrets. He raced Sprint Cars throughout the Northwest in late 1950’s early 1960’s. Dean's passion for all things with motors continued throughout his life. Riding motorcycles, both dirt and street were usually part of his free time activities. In continuing with Dean’s adventurous spirit, he acquired his Pilot’s License in 1986 and enjoyed the challenge that flying provided. On Sundays, he could be found in front of a TV somewhere watching the NASCAR race. Dean was a sportsman and always enjoyed the outdoors. Fishing for salmon at the Oregon coast, along with trout in the high lakes of Oregon were his favorites. Fishing trips to both Mexico and Belize with friends were also highlights. Hunting deer in eastern Oregon with buddies provided many years of fun. Even though the deer were especially elusive when Dean was around, that never detracted him from a good time. No matter what activity he was involved in, pursuit of a Pookie bird was a consideration. He loved to tell stories, where he always had a captive audience and a smile on his face. His colorful language was a trademark until the day he died. Dean and his brother Duane spent so much time together that people often confused the two with each other. If a persons wealth is determined by their friends, Dean was a very rich man. He is survived by his son Mark Willcock (Melissa) of Wilsonville, son Chris Nichols of Gresham, brother Duane Willcock (Lillian) of Eugene, and grandchildren Nicole and James. Service will be held at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene on Saturday August 25th at 1:00pm. A gathering for friends and family to celebrate Dean by sharing stories and having a drink will be at the Gateway Grill in Springfield at 3:00pm.
