Deana Abernathy Deana May Abernathy passed away April 7,2015 from age related causes. She was 89. Deana was born January 15, 1926 in Springfield Oregon to Homer and Birdie Wright. She and her two brothers, Robert and Donald Wright grew up in Springfield. Deana helped out at her parent’s furrier shop along Main Street in Springfield. In 1949 Deana married Joe Elam Abernathy of Piedmont Missouri. They met and married in Eugene Oregon and then moved to Veneta Oregon and in 1954 had their son Michael Joe Abernathy. Deana is proceeded in death by her husband Joe ( 1986) and her son Michael Abernathy (2001) Deana was a homemaker who cared for her family and was an excellent cook! She enjoyed playing cards, was a game show enthusiast, and loved watching classic movies. She enjoyed being with her friends and family and being “on the go!” She enjoyed nature and seeing the changes in the seasons. She loved animals and owned several dogs, cats and even a skunk in her lifetime. She was a feisty lady who always made everyone smile. She will be greatly missed by her family. She is survived by her brother Donald Wright of Springfield, her daughter in law Angela Abernathy of Eugene, her three grandchildren, Shane Abernathy of Vancouver Washington, Stephanie Sanchez of Eugene, and Jennifer Abernathy of Bend Oregon. And her four great-grandsons , Israel, Enrique, Judah Sanchez and Benjamin Lewis.
