Deanna Sue Benningfield

Deanna Benningfield, a loving wife, mother, sister and aunt passed away on Sunday, July 16, at the age of 42. She was a beautiful, compassionate and loving soul. Although Deanna battled many illnesses in her short life, she met every obstacle with courage, strength and humor. Deanna was born April 4, 1964 in Ypsilanti, Michigan. She moved to Washington in 1969 and grew up with her family in Sumner. After graduating from Sumner High School in 1982, Deanna received her BA in Industrial Psychology from PLU. Deanna then worked in the area of recruitment and staffing for various companies before starting her family. Deanna was happiest when surrounded by her family and friends. Those who knew her best, will remember her for her gentleness, unconditional love, creativity, sense of humor, playfulness, and chocolate chip cookies. She was always quick with a smile, generous with hugs and always had time to listen, especially to her daughters. She gave selflessly of her time to numerous charities, most especially to her local PTA and her church. Deanna found her soul-mate in Tom, and they were inseparable from the day they met and he was by her side till the end. Her daughters, Haley and Rebecca were the light of her life and she found her greatest joy in being a mom. Deanna left us too early but she will be watching over us forever. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Deanna was preceded in death by her parents, Stan and Dene Borg (Sumner). She is survived by her husband, Thomas; her daughters Haley (11) and Rebecca (7); her brothers and sisters: Michelle (David), Pam (Mark), Stan, Bill (Petra), Dana; and her nephews, Colton and Logan Borg and many other family and friends. Please join the family for her funeral service on Friday, July 21, 11:00 am, at the Sumner United Methodist Church, 901 Wood Ave. Viewing will be at 10:00 AM at the church. Interment will be at Sumner Cemetery.
