Debbie Overbay Pierson

Debbie Overbay Pierson, age 66 of Gate City, VA went home to be with her Lord and Savior, and was reunited with her parents and daughter, Rebecca, on Monday, August 21, 2023. Debbie was born on March 11, 1957, in Sullivan County, TN to Howard and Ruth Overbay. Debbie worked in the restaurant business for many years, but her true passion in life was playing the piano and writing music. She played piano at her home church, and many churches throughout VA. Debbie loved her family, and the music she played will continue to resonate in the hearts and memories of those who loved and knew her. Debbie was preceded in death by her parents; and her daughter, Rebecca Akers. Those left to cherish her memory are her brother, Rick Overbay and wife Pat; son, Clayton Pierson; two grandsons; and many loving nieces, nephews, and other family members. A receiving of friends will be scheduled at a later date and will be held at Carter Trent / Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City, VA. Carter Trent Funeral Home Kingsport is serving the Pierson family.
