Deborah K. Simon, 62, of Denver, CO, died at home on August 20, 2021. Deb was born on April 22, 1959 and grew up in South Heart, North Dakota. She graduated from South Heart High School in 1977. She studied at Dickinson State University, later transferring to Regis University in Denver. Deb led a life of voracious curiosity, kindness, and honesty. She was gregarious and warm; always greeting others with a genuine smile. Her disarming personality captivated so many people — from her very closest confidants to random fellow elevator passengers. Deb Simon truly knew no strangers. Deb was immeasurably energetic and hard-working, often “doing more before 6 a.m. than most people do all day long.” She built an esteemed career in human resources; her last role was Account Manager for Insperity’s Recruiting Services. She enjoyed shopping (a good sale!), organizing/decorating, cycling, and — of course — cheering on her favorite team, the Denver Broncos. She is survived by her husband, Phil Corio; children, Ashley Simon and Lisa (Sean) Pellersels; grandchildren, Austin and Chase Pellersels; siblings, Frank (Lucy) Hurt, Mona (Todd) Livdahl, Ray (Tammy) Hurt, Diane (Kim) Martin, and George (Tami) Hurt. She is also survived by many cherished in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jon Simon; parents, Frank and Mary Hurt (née Krance); and sisters, Mary Ann Dzykowski, Nancy Buechler, and Eva Larson. Livestream of services will be held at 1 p.m. MDT on Friday, October 1. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Food Bank of the Rockies.
