Deborah Sue "Debby" Taylor Wright

Deborah Sue “Debby” Taylor Wright, 72, wife of Carl Winston Wright, passed away August 21, 2021, at Lexington Medical Center. Born January 25, 1949, in Columbia, SC, Debby was the daughter of the late Olive Gibbons Taylor and Fred Roy “Buster” Taylor. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two sons, Carl Martin “Marty” Wright and Timothy Taylor “Tim” Wright; one grandchild, Samantha Wright; one step-grandson, Michael Anthony Meetze; a newborn great-grandchild, Elliott Owen Wright; and one sister, Vicki Taylor McCartha of Inman, SC. She was predeceased by a sister, Pamela Ann Taylor; and a brother, Fred Clay Taylor. Debby and Carl were married 56 years and were devoted to each other from beginning to end. Debby was known for her kindness, her love of family and church, and her talent on piano and organ. She attended Columbia High School and received piano instruction for 13 years from several different teachers. She played keyboards at Irmo Church of God for 18 years and previously was organist at Heritage Pentecostal Church in West Columbia for 27 years. She retired in 2019 after working 45 years in the insurance business, the last 40 years with Jesse T. Reese Insurance Agency and 5 years prior with Seibels Bruce Insurance Company. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Irmo Church of God, 10215 Broad River Road, Irmo, SC 29063, with burial being held immediately after the service at Bush River Memorial Gardens, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. A visitation will take place between 1:00-2:00 prior to the service at the church. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is in charge of arrangements for the family. Memorials may be made to Irmo Church of God, PO Box 2238, Irmo, SC 29063, or to a charity of your choice.
