Debra Marie Blakely, age 56 of Charlotte passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Levine-Dickson Hospice House Southminster. She was born on September 29, 1959 in Charlotte to the late Pickens and Annie Pearl Blakely. Debra is survived by her two sons Darion and Rich Blakely; grandson Dominique Blakely; granddaughter Kyara Blakely; sisters Patricia Whitehead and her husband Troy, Lauretha Johnson-Bey and her husband Amar, and Dwanda Johnson; brothers Christopher Johnson and his wife Barbara, Michael Blakely and his wife Carolyn and Alexander Gibson and his wife Ruby and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by infant daughter Naomi Blakely, sister Florence Blakely and brothers Carl and Mack Johnson. Debra worked for Frito-Lay for over 16 years, was an avid reader, loved old movies but most of all loved her family and was family oriented. A celebration of Debra's life will be held Monday, January 25, 2016 at 1:00 PM in the Historic Dilworth Chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte. The family will receive friends one half hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 1901 Brunswick Ave Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28207or St. Jude's Children's Hospital,501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
