Edwards Memorial Funeral Homes - University Place
Debrah "Debi" Anne Jones Hoye
February 8th, 1955 - May 19th, 2014
Debi A. Hoye 59, died May 19, 2014, in University Place, Washington. Services will be held at Edwards Memorial, 11020 S. Tacoma Way, Lakewood, WA 98499, Friday, June 13 at 11am with Pastor Tom Bailey officiating. Debrah was born February 8, 1955, in Klamath Falls, Oregon, to Herbert E. Jones and Glenna Belyea Woodward, weighing a mere 5lbs 12oz, small enough to fit into her daddy’s logging boot shoe box. She attended school in Klamath Falls from elementary to graduation from Klamath Union High in 1973. Shortly after graduation, she gave birth to her first child, Lenna Dianne Dahl. In 1974 she married Richard Earl Dahl, Jr., and gave birth to her second child, Donna Lynn Dahl, in 1975. Her third daughter, Melody Anne Dahl, was born in 1977. Debi was employed at the Klamath County Jail as a bailiff for a short period of time before she moved herself and three young daughters to Tacoma, Washington. In 1982, she attended Clover Park Technical College and earned her associate degree, becoming a laboratory technician, a profession at which she worked for over 20 years. After her first marriage ended, she married James Kevin Hoye in 1986, becoming a stepmother to Jason, Staci and Holly Hoye. In 1992, Debi earned another associate degree, this time in technical arts, and went into clinical research, where our mother believed she would help find the cure for cancer. Among Debi’s interests were crocheting, crafts, gardening, playing bingo, family genealogy and spending time with her family and grandchildren at the pool. In her later years, she spent time with family and friends, including her companion dog “Pepper,” whom she absolutely adored and loved taking on walks and adventures. She also enjoyed attending her oldest grandson’s “gigs” with his band. She liked calling her daughters almost daily just to talk for hours. Our mother was a kind, gentle and non-judgmental person. She loved her children and family unconditionally. She was a hard worker from day one. She was the kind of person who always rooted for the underdog. She was funny and she loved to laugh and make fun of herself. She had a contagious laugh and always would say she should have been a comedian. Our Mother, sister, grandmother and friend will always be remembered and dearly missed. Until we see you again. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Lenna and Andrew Lizberg of Olympia, WA; daughter and son-in-law Donna and Juan Gamez of Tacoma, WA; daughter and son-in-law Melody and Thomas Mann of Tacoma, WA; stepson and daughter-in-law Jason and Samantha Hoye of Galena, OH; stepdaughter Staci Hoye-Smith of Columbus, OH; stepdaughter and son-in-law Holly and Jason Pratt of Kingston, WA; brother and sister-in-law Kenneth and Lisa Jones of Eureka, NV; brother and sister-in-law Roger and Terry Jones of Middletown, OH; Susan Abukhalaf of Medford, OR; Laura Grey of Klamath Falls, OR; and 13 grandchildren and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. Debi was preceded in death by her father, Herbert E. Jones; mother, Glenna Belyea Woodward; brother, Glenn Leroy Jones; infant sister, Dianne Carrol Jones; infant granddaughter, Glenna Anne Tudor; and infant granddaughter, Sarah Hoye.
