Delbert Clyde Linder

October 30th, 1947 - July 31st, 2024

Delbert Clyde Linder, 76, of Tacoma, WA, passed away on the evening of 7/31/24 after his battle with Liver disease.

Delbert was born on 10/30/47 to parents Perry Linder and Marie Linder.  The family lived on and operated a number of farms in the Prosser and Sunnyside area.  Delbert graduated from Prosser High School in 1966 and moved to the Tacoma area a few years later.  Most of his career he worked as a Diesel Mechanic for Interstate Distributor Co. and Penske Trucking.

In 1977, Delbert met Doreen and they married in 1979.  Doreen had 3 children (Chris, Lisa, and Matt) from a previous marriage, whom Delbert loved and supported as his own.  Delbert and Doreen went on to have 2 children together, Del Jr. and Darren.  He worked tirelessly to provide for the family.

Delbert loved working with his hands, building and repairing everything from appliances, to cars, and homes.  He had a passion for auto-racing, in particular NASCAR, and for several years raced Stock Cars at various tracks in Washington.  After years of racing, he stopped so that he could focus on being the Crew Chief for his son Darren, to support Darren's dream of open wheel racing.

Even in retirement Delbert never stopped working, spending most of his days working on his hot rod, performing various home improvement projects, and helping all of his children with their vehicle maintenance and home projects.  He is survived by his wife Doreen, his sons Del Jr. and Darren, and his younger brother Wayne Linder. Delbert will be remembered for his hard working, generous, loving spirit.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2702 East D Street, Tacoma, WA 98421 on 9/8/24 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mary Bridge Childrens Foundation.

Jack Pickard

All through Prosser High School there were four of us that were inseparable. If you wanted to know where one was just ask the other. We had a wonderful life during those times, we four worked hard and played hard. No cell phones to tie us down and waste our time, no computers with AI. Lots of pretty girls to dance with and everybody in town knew everybody in town! Jobs available for workers. Life was grand. Delbert thank you for all the good times and great memories. Friends forever! Love ya man! Jack Pickard
