Delwin Dale Ireland
December 24th, 1917 - June 12th, 2009
Delwin Dale Ireland (91) passed away Friday, June 12, at his home in Star, Idaho following a brief illness. He was born December 24, 1917 in Atlanta, Nebraska to George and Elsie Ireland. His family moved to Idaho during the Great Depression. Delwin served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Northern Idaho, and in the United States Army during World War II . On May 24, 1941 he married Jane Martin and from that union came six children. To support his growing family, Delwin worked in various sawmills, learned radio and television repair and owned repair businesses and stores in Star and Caldwell. He spent many weekends hunting and fishing with his family. Later he became interested in archery and helped teach bow hunting education classes until the spring of 2008. Mostly he loved being with his family. Delwin was an honorable man who loved the Lord and had many friends who loved and respected him. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Jane Ireland, in 1999; son Elmer Ireland; parents, George and Elsie Ireland; sisters Cleo Ireland and Emma Rose Gress. He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Dale and Martha Ireland of Sequim, Washington and Curtis and Marilyn Ireland of Meridian, Idaho; daughters and sons-in-law Nancy and Dave Larson of Grangeville, Idaho, Leona Cameron of Baker City, Oregon and Susan and Ivan Inouye of LeRoy, New York; sister Pauline Koch of Caldwell, Idaho; Grandchildren: Edward Ireland, Jenell Howells, Karen Greer, James Larson,Benjamin Cameron, Melinda Cameron, Luke Cameron, Michelle Inouye, Nicole Inouye, Jared Inouye, Steven Ireland, Wendy Arnesen Great Grandchildren: Ephrem and Zebadiah Ireland, Jennifer Howells, Riley and Cheyenne Greer, Samantha and Kamala Larson, MaKayla and Kyle Ireland, Jessie and Ember Heinch. Services will be held Friday, June 19th at 10:00 a.m. at Star Community Church where he was an active member for more than 60 years. Burial will follow at Star Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Delwin's name to Greenleaf Friends Academy. Service Information
