DeNiece June Pieper Alexander, age 84, of Olympia, Washington, passed away Wednesday night, October 26, 2016. She was born June 1, 1932 in Pocatello, Idaho, the daughter of Fredrick William Pieper and Bertha Clara Meyer. DeNiece was an avid gardener and loved being outside working in her gardens. She was a talented seamstress and cook as well. She was well known for her homemade chocolate cake. In 1954, after four years of being engaged, she married her sweetheart, Alton M. Alexander Jr. in the Idaho Falls Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together, they established a Christ-centered home where DeNiece’s priorities as a homemaker made it a home filled with love, caring, and training for their children. They lived in Pocatello, Idaho, Twin Falls, Idaho, Bellevue, Washington, Concord, California, and Olympia, Washington. In Olympia, she worked for the Daily Olympian as an auto route contractor. In addition to raising their four children, she dedicated her life in service to her Savior. She served The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a Cub Scout Den Leader, Primary teacher, Primary chorister, Primary President, Relief Society President, and other callings. She served as a missionary with her husband in the California Riverside Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1993 to 1996. They served a mission again in 2000-2002 at the Liberty Jail Historic Site in Liberty, Missouri. DeNiece also worked as an ordinance worker in the Seattle Washington Temple from 1999 until 2015. DeNiece is survived by her husband, Alton M. Alexander Jr.; sons, Steven Ross (JoAnn) Alexander of Olympia, Washington, and Alton Jay (Julie) Alexander of Lacey, Washington; daughters, Deon (Wally) Taylor of San Antonio, Texas, and Linda (Gordon) Jones of Rocklin, California; sisters, Dorothy Paxman of St. George, Utah, Jacklyn (Richard) Alexander of Sacramento, California, and Rita (David) Ostler of St. George, Utah; as well as 18 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, William Pieper, Dee Pieper, George Pieper, Ross Pieper; sister, Bertha Pieper; and great grandson, Roper Michael Taylor.
