"South Hadley- Denise V. (Gasbarre) Laizer, 60, of South Hadley, passed away on April 29, 2015 with her family by her side. She was born on Nov. 20, 1954 in Shreveport, LA, daughter of the late Anthony J. and Mary (Fedak) Gasbarre. She was a graduate of Granby High School, and a South Hadley resident for over 40 years. Denise retired as a Senior V.P. and Chief Lending Officer with over 40 years in the banking industry. Her honesty, knowledge, generosity, and unwavering kindness was immeasurable. As masterful as she was in her professional life, her personal triumphs and relationships transcended this. Denise and her husband, Leonard "Lenny" Laizer celebrated 40 years of marriage on April 19, 2015. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two sons Nicholas and Timothy Laizer, and Timothy's fiancée Shawna Doran. She was predeceased by her sister Adrienne Wilson. After Adrienne's passing, Denise and Lenny raised her daughters Paris A. Morley and Jackie Wilson Porter, who gave her great nephews Collin A. Morley and Brayson Porter. Denise also leaves her brother Anthony J. Gasbarre, Jr. and his wife Laura, and their children Aubrey and Anthony. She will also be deeply missed by sisters in law Linda Tolpa, Ann Marie Lafreniere, and Jeanne Laizer, along with their families, and countless family and friends. In Denise's free time she loved sailing in the Caribbean, bowling, golfing, trips to Mohegan Sun, and most of all spending time with her cherished family. Denise's tenacity and strong will presented itself even in the depths of her illness; through it all, she didn't miss a day. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to those who were personally involved in Denise's compassionate care and treatment during her illness, especially Dana Farber and Baystate VNA and Hospice. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 4, from 4-7 PM at the Beers and Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 5, at 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Hadley. Memorial donations may be made to Riverside Industries, 1 Cottage St., Easthampton, MA 01027, or to a charity of one's choice.
