Tribute & Tallent Funeral and Cremations
Dennis Carrol Adams
September 14th, 1946 - April 24th, 2024
Dennis Carrol Adams, age 77, of Charlotte, NC died on April 24, 2024. A longtime resident of Charlotte, he was born on September 14, 1946, to the late Carrol and Ruth Adams. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather “G”, and uncle to his family and trusted friend to many. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Dennis was raised in Hartsville, SC and graduated from Hartsville High School in 1964 before attending Wofford College and earning his bachelor’s degree. While attending college, Dennis was a member of the Wofford ROTC program and also very active in his fraternity. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and served his country for two years in Stuttgart, Germany. Following military service, Dennis began a 50-year distinguished career in the banking and financial industry. Dennis retired from Bank of America after serving long tenures in both the Atlanta, GA and Charlotte, NC corporate offices. Following retirement from full time employment, Dennis utilized his financial skills to mentor others while serving as Supervisory Principal with Carroll Financial Services. After establishing his career, Dennis met the love of his life, Joan Gainey. They soon married and began a beautiful 45-year relationship until her death in 2023. His devotion to Joan was never more evident than through her lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. Dennis was ever by her side and cared and loved her through good and challenging times. He was a gracious, loving father to his daughter Meredith (Pineville, NC) and son Benjamin (Julianna)(Houston, TX). He was also a doting grandfather to his granddaughter Madison (Pineville, NC), and grandson Caiden (Tilden, Texas). Dennis adored his grandchildren and his eyes always sparkled when he would speak of them. “G” as they affectionately called him, loved spending time with them and enjoyed participating in their activities when possible. In retirement years, he and Joan loved traveling in their RV to see many beautiful places and visit family. In his younger years, Dennis was an outstanding athlete, student, and musician. He loved to play guitar and sing, entertaining his nieces and nephew. Dennis is survived by his children Meredith and Benjamin (Julianna), grandchildren Madison and Caiden, his sister and brother-in-law, Iris and Jimmy McFarland of Hartsville, SC, and their children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; Joan Adams and parents; Carrol and Ruth Adams. A memorial service will be held in Charlotte to honor and celebrate Dennis at Providence Baptist Church, 4921 Randolph Rd. on May 6 at 11 AM.
