Dennis Franklin Chappell

TribuCast Dennis Franklin Chappell, 70, entered into the presence of Jesus, his Lord and Savior, on September 10, 2021. He was born on September 21, 1950, in Richmond, Virginia, to his parents, Robert and Thelma Chappell. During his teenage years, Dennis felt God’s call to serve the Lord in full time Christian Ministry. He attended Piedmont Bible College in Winston-Salem, NC, where he met Lila, his dear wife of 51 years. Dennis served faithfully as Associate Pastor of Biltmore Baptist Church in Portsmouth, Virginia, and later as Administrator of Portsmouth Christian School. The Lord then led him to Denbigh Baptist Christian School in Newport News, Virginia, where he served for many years. He was also privileged to minister as Pastor of Fordham Baptist Church in Hampton, Virginia. He later retired to Kernersville, NC. Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Lila; his children, Holly Wilcox and husband, Chip of Clemmons, NC, and Evan Chappell and wife, Sarah of Newport News, VA; his grandchildren, Abbie Wilcox, Emma Wilcox, Noah Wilcox, and Elijah Chappell; two aunts, Etta Graser and Lois Smith; and many cousins. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Thelma Chappell. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Rob Decker, Rev. Steve Battaglia, Dr. Howard Wilburn, and Rev. Kivett Hicks officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory, Kernersville, NC.
