Dennis R. Dickson, 77, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2016, at the Life Care Center in Evergreen, Colorado, after a five month battle with lung cancer. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kay Dickson; children, Jennifer Clemmensen (Craig), Chris Dickson, Shannon Renick (Chris), Kevin Dickson (Barbara), and Heidi Dickson; sister, Phyllis Dickson; six grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many close friends. Born and raised in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Dennis was the son of Richard Dickson and Mona Watkins. He is a graduate of Liberty High School in Bethlehem, and Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. At Lafayette, he was a member of the ROTC program and Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He received a Bachelors Degree in Economics in 1961. Following graduation from Lafayette, Dennis attended Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI and was commissioned in the United States Navy as an Ensign in August 1961. He served with the Naval Security Group at Ft Meade, MD. After attaining the rank of LTJG, he received an honorable discharge in August 1964. Dennis joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Special Agent in September 1964. He served 32 years as an agent. His work with the FBI took him to many locations throughout the United States, including Quantico, VA; Birmingham, AL; Greenwood, MS; Tampa, FL; Headquarters in Washington, D.C.; and Denver, CO. He also served as Legal Attache in the foreign liaison office in London, England; Bonn, Germany; and Bern, Switzerland. He retired from the FBI’s Denver office in May 1996. Following his retirement, he continued investigative work for various organizations. In his retirement, Dennis enjoyed the Colorado outdoors – skiing, camping, golfing, gardening, and hiking. He developed a passion for cooking and enjoyed sharing meals with family and friends. He continued his love of travel and shared many memorable trips with his wife. He enjoyed spending time with family, friends and his beloved dogs, Dakota and Skipper. A mass will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church in Evergreen, Colorado, on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at 11 a.m., with a reception to follow in the Parrish Hall. Burial services are scheduled for Wednesday, January 4 at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 11:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Mount Evans Home Health Care & Hospice, 3081 Bergen Peak Drive, Evergreen, CO 80439.
