Dennis Michael Fahs

April 23rd, 1951 - April 30th, 2024

It is with immense sadness that I share the passing of the love of my life, my soulmate, the father of our daughters and Papa to our five grandchildren - Dennis Michael Fahs. Dennis passed away on Tuesday, April 30th, 2024, in Tucson, Arizona. Dennis was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia on his 73rd birthday, April 23, 2024.

Dennis was born April 23rd, 1951, in Springfield, Illinois to Robert Edwards Fahs and Helen Marie (née Tice) Fahs. As a child of a government employee his family dutifully moved every 3 to 4 years from Illinois, to Buffalo, New York, Los Alamos, New Mexico finally settling in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Dennis attended Sombra del Monte Elementary, Madison Middle School, and Sandia High School class of 1969 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Our children also attended these same schools. Dennis graduated from the University of Albuquerque in 1973 with BA in Education (which he used for 6 weeks!)

Dennis met the love of his life, me, Teri Lee Biddison, while on a Spanish Club trip to Chihuahua, Mexico while a junior at Sandia High School. We were married on October 25th, 1975, in Albuquerque.

We were blessed with three daughters Amber Biddison Fahs, Laurel Lee Efu-Awich, and Anna Marie Delgado. Our daughters have given us five incredible grandchildren Khalil Michael Ojwang and Imani Lee Nyamasi Efu-Awich and Naomi Helena, Eden Roselynn, and Novah Marie Delgado.

Dennis loved building and constructing. His occupational work life centered around building homes and selling lumber. For many years Dennis was a top million-dollar salesman for Baldridge Lumber in Albuquerque, NM. There were few things around the house that he could not fix or build. His hand can be seen in projects in Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Ohio, Maryland, and Kiserian in Kenya, East Africa. Eden Delgado, his little leftie, always said, “Papa is a fixer.”

Dennis’s greatest accomplishment in life, aside from his family, was his ability to help anyone in need. He was extremely proud of earning his Eagle Scout award at fifteen years of age. He was the Chair of the 1996 NM Home Builder’s Association Home Builder’s Showcase, and the 1997 Colorado D Class Sporting Clay Champion.

Dennis is survived by, Teri, his wife and partner of fifty-six years, daughters, and sons-in-law (Dennis truly believed his sons-in-law to be his sons), Amber Biddison Fahs, Laurel Lee and Fredrick James Efu-Awich, and Anna Marie and Rene Javier Delgado. Brother Harold Warner Fahs and sister Nancy Helen (née Fahs) Phillips. Grandchildren Khalil and Imani Efu-Awich and Naomi, Eden, and Novah Delgado. Special mention must be given to his mentor and life-long friend Tom Fisher, and his “twin brother from another mother” Mike Adam.

Dennis was proceeded in death by his parents Robert and Helen Fahs and his grandparents Charles H. Fahs and Mildred Marie (née Edwards) Fahs and Harold Issac Tice and Lillian M. (née Warner) Tice.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, May 18th at 10AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 2002 N Greasewood Tucson, Arizona.

Stacia Stanley (Ivener) #4

If the world ever knew a “girl dad” Dennis was it. He loved Laurel, Amber and Anna further than the moon! It is almost impossible for me to remember a time the Fahs family was not a part of my life, I met Laurel and Amber in 3rd grade when their family moved into the neighborhood and began attending Sombra Del Monte. We instantly hit it off and from that time forward, half my life was spent in the Fahs home as “daughter #4” (the other half, Amber and/or Laurel spent at my home). Dennis was my “Dad #2” he had this commanding presents with his deep voice and tall stature, but was also a gentle soul. He lived to lend a hand wherever and whenever needed and he loved to share his passions with those whom he loved. I so cherished catching up with and seeing both Terri and Dennis during my visits back home to Albuquerque and more recently day drives down to Tucson. It is both difficult and believe and accept Dennis’s physical presents in this world is no longer, but his love, teachings, and spirit will always be with those who were lucky enough to have him in their life.

One of the nicest and kindest men I have ever known. So glad he and Teri came to CA and visited me awhile back. I am sad for Teri and the family as he will be truly missed by many. God Bless all of you. One day at a time. He will be with you always.

Dennis was one of my favorite husbands. Always friendly but not too friendly, always showed me his western tux at the ball because he knew I thought it was cool and was thrilled when I had a table made for him out of his baby high chair tray! The little things. He was a man’s man but also a gentle family man. Goodbye, my friend. Rest easy. Teresa Edens

Alan and Ruth Ivener

How did you meet Dennis?

Alan and I first met Dennis when Stacia introduced us to her "new" best friends, Laurel and Amber. We immediately knew that we wanted to get to know Dennis and you. The years of our friendship has gone on since the 3rd grade. Through graduations , weddings, children and grandchildren. Sometimes we haven't seen you, but through our our children we have always kept in touch. We fondly remember the early days at Sombra's spaghetti fundraiser and associated clean up. We are truly devastated and we will miss Dennis and keep him in a special place in our hearts. Alan and Ruth Ivener
