Dennis Kroll

Dr. Dennis R. Kroll Dr. Kroll of Charlotte, NC died on Tuesday morning, December 28, 2010. He was born on November 22, 1940 in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania. He was the first in his family to attend college. He attended North Carolina State University (1958-1962) on an athletic scholarship. He was named an Academic All American while playing varsity football and graduated with honors with degrees in Zoology and Biology. Dr. Kroll did his graduate work at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry (1962-1966) receiving a Doctor of Dental Medicine. He served as a Captain in the U.S. Army in both California and Japan from 1966-1970. He then pursued further training in orthodontics, attending Boston University School of Dentistry from 1970-1972. Dr. Kroll settled in Charlotte, NC in 1973 opening practices in Charlotte and Albemarle, NC. He was a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, the American Dental Association and the Charlotte Dental Society. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Helen (Kazmierski) Kroll as well as several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Marilyn (McAlpine) Kroll; son, Dr. Christopher Robert Kroll and his wife, Michelle, of Concord, NC; his three grandchildren, Matthew James Kroll, John Thomas Kroll and Melissa Catherine Kroll, of Concord, NC. He is also survived by one sister, Jane (Kroll) Coughenour and niece, Natalie Forbes and nephew, Josh Coughenour, all of West Newton, Pennsylvania. During his professional career of nearly 40 years, Dr. Kroll impacted the lives of countless patients through his compassion, skill and professionalism. Dr. Kroll was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing weekly bridge with friends, travel with his family and hunting and fishing. He will lovingly be remembered by his family as a much beloved husband, admired father and adored grandfather. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, January 3, 2011 at St. Gabriel?s Catholic Church, 3016 Providence Rd. Charlotte, NC 28211. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn East Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 PM on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd. Charlotte, NC 28203.
