DENNIS MURPHY A graveside service will be held for Dennis E. Murphy, 72 of Chico, on Wednesday, February 25 at 11 a.m. at Chico Cemetery. He passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2015 Dennis was born on January 23, 1943 to Betty and Edward Litzenberger. Edward died in WWII and Betty later married John E. Murphy who raised Dennis. Dennis graduated from Leuzinger High School and El Camino College with a degree in Police Science. He joined the Los Angeles police Department. In 1960 Dennis married his high school sweetheart, Linda Gracy. They had two children, Laurie and Michael and five grandchildren. Dennis was interested in everything. He liked to travel and would always do research on a place he was about to visit. He liked to study birds and geology through the OLLI classes that he attended. He coached little league baseball and AYSO soccer. Dennis liked KIXE movies and specials like Downton Abby, Mid Summer Murders and Foles's War. He was also interested in taking his grandkids on trips, attending their school programs, sports activities and always asked about their grades. Dennis loved mowing his lawn, taking care of the gardens and trees and he could fix or repair almost anything. His survivors include his wife of almost 55 years, Linda; sister, Rebekah (Fred) Mohun; children, Laurie and Michael (Kathy) Murphy; grandchildren, Jena (Waldo) Osuna, Kelly, Cassidy and Quincy Murphy and Daniel Margosian; uncle Luke Sharples and many cousins.
