Dennis R. Taylor Dennis R. Taylor, age 73, died at home with his wife, Dorothy, and brother-in-law, Ron Seabourne, by his side, on June 17, 2011, ending a 5 ½ year battle with prostate cancer. Dennis was born in Los Angeles, California. Upon graduating from high school, he served for two years in the U.S. Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton. He attended college, where he received an Associate of Arts degree, and then began his career in retail sales. He worked for a number of years for Philip Morris U.S.A., both as a sales representative and sales manager. During this time, he moved from Los Angeles to San Diego. In the early 70s he decided to return to school to pursue a career in the automotive business. After completing that training, he worked for many years as a service manager for a large automotive repair shop in San Diego before moving to Olympia, Washington, in 1992. He worked for various inventory companies before retiring in 2003. Dennis met his wife, Dorothy, in 1975 while working as a sales manager of a gas station/repair shop in San Diego. He made sure he talked to her whenever she came in for gas and finally convinced her to go out. Thus began their love affair, which continued until his death. They were married in San Diego in 1978 and had just celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary. During their marriage, they loved to go camping and fishing and take road trips. They traveled through most of the western States and also visited many cities on the East Coast and New England. After Dennis was diagnosed with cancer, they continued to enjoy traveling by taking cruises and were fortunate enough to cruise to Hawaii, the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal and to Alaska. Dennis loved spending time at home, working in the yard or on projects around the house. He often said he no longer needed to go camping as his backyard was better than any camp ground. Dennis was an avid reader and enjoyed all types of music. He enjoyed going to the theater, especially musical theater. He loved computers and was always available to help friends and family with computer questions and advice. Dennis will be remembered for his sense of humor and his e-mail jokes will be sorely missed by all. His outlook on life was “Don’t worry – Be happy.” He enjoyed each and every day and all the little things in life, from a good meal to a sunny day. Dennis is survived by his wife, Dorothy Ann Seabourne-Taylor; his brother, John Taylor, and wife, Sandy; his sister, Ginny Taylor and husband, Gary; and his sister, Barbara Gapper and husband, Fred; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
