Dennis John Vance

Dennis John Vance (66) of Spanaway, WA died December 12th with his family by his side. Dennis was born December 27, 1949 to the late Paul & Margaret Vance and graduated from Renton High School in 1968. Dennis entered the Army in 1969 and served in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1971. He is survived by his wife Judy, son Erik (Aimee), son Nathan (Heather), and daughter Lisa (Brian). Dennis loved spending time with his grandchildren, Samantha, Trevor, Rylee, Aidan, and Olivia as well as his great-grandchildren Madden and Austyn. The youngest of 5 children, he is survived by his sister Nadine Howard and brother Mike Vance along with many nieces and nephews that loved him and that he loved dearly. Dennis loved the water and while growing up he was always down at Kennydale Beach Park with his brother Mike. He worked in the automobile industry for many years as a parts manager and a program trainer. Dennis has had many nicknames, Denny, Papa, Big D, Mr. D, Mr. Vance. Dennis loved riding his motorcycle, tried his best at golf and he loved a good fishin' trip. Dennis was always willing to help wherever needed. He loved working on cars with Erik and you could always find him at his grandkids sporting events. Dennis and Judy took their last vacation to the place he always wanted to go, Tennessee. To his surprise their children showed up to enjoy Memphis as a family. A military honors service will be held on December 22, 2016 1:00 PM at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St Kent, WA 98042. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VA Puget Sound Fisher House. The family wishes to send their gratitude to the Seattle VA Hospital and the Evergreen Hospice team that helped make his final days comfortable. He will be missed.
