Dennis Wick (age 76) passed away unexpectedly on Sunday October 25th, 2020 of natural causes at his home in Kenmore, Washington. Dennis was born on the 27th of December 1943 to Claudia (maiden name Kestell) and Harvey Wick in Spokane, Washington. After graduating from Shadle Park High School in 1960, he went on to study computer engineering at the DeVry Institute of Technology. While attending DeVry in Chicago, Illinois he became friends with a schoolmate named Stan Walat. Stan introduced his sister, Diane Walat to Denny in 1964 and they went on to marry in 1967 and had two children. After graduating from DeVry, he served in the United States Navy with a period of active duty and continued as a reservist. After active duty, Denny began his first job at IBM working for “Big Blue” on mainframe computers as a technician. Denny was one of the world’s top mainframe repairmen in the 1970s. Starting his own business, “Circle Computer” in the mid-70’s, Denny had a full life with a family and successful career with computers that lasted through the late-80’s. He was proud to see his Daughter graduate from the University of Illinois in 1990. In 1989, they decided to relocate back to Seattle where his parents and four siblings lived. He made a drastic career change into the commercial real estate appraisal field and quickly obtained the premier MAI designation within the industry. Diane followed Denny into the appraisal field becoming a residential appraiser, and they ran their own appraisal company, Wick and Associates, for many years. The couple purchased a home in Kenmore and eventually moved to Lake Forest Park, where they lived for almost 20 years. His son, Daniel joined the family appraisal team in 2004 and the two worked side by side for nearly 15 years. In the late-80’s Denny accepted Christ into his life and had a dramatic personality change, he often encouraged his family to follow his path. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and active at St. Brendan’s Church. Becoming a giving soul he dedicated many years to Kairos, a Christian prison ministry bringing the word of God to those incarcerated in the State of Washington. Denny enjoyed hunting, working with his hands, and being a Dad. Many vacations in his later years included his wife, children, and grandchildren. Dennis was predeceased by parents Claudia and Harvey Wick and grandson Josh Sparling. He is survived by his wife Diane, children Debbie and her husband Bill Harris, Daniel and his wife Dana and grandchildren Brittany, Danny, Lizzy, and Ben, and of course his loving dog Penelope. Also surviving Dennis are his younger siblings Pat Wick, Terry Wick, Colleen Thomas, and Kathy Harjau. The family requests that all flowers and notes be sent to Daniel’s house, contact Daniel at 206-900-2626. There will be a funeral service at St Brendan’s Church in Bothell on November 6th at 10am. Due to Covid-19 restrictions please get in touch with Daniel to be formally added to the guest list. Denny will be laid to rest at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline, Washington.
