Deputy Sam Brownlee
September 17th, 1967 - November 23rd, 2010
Samuel Kent Brownlee 43, of Greeley died in the line of duty on November 23, 2010 serving the community he loved. He was born in Denver on September 17, 1967. Raised in Greeley by parents, Kent and Nelda Brownlee. He attended Greeley Schools, graduating from Greeley Central High School in 1986. In July 1990, he married Cindy Poland in Greeley and they have two sons, Tanner and Chase Brownlee. After completing the Weld County Post Academy in Greeley and receiving his basic POST certification, he worked for the Gilcrest and Ault Police Departments before his employment at the Weld County Sheriff’s Office in 2005. He received a lifesaving award in 2006 and held the positions of Field Training Officer, Taser Instructor and Firearms Instructor. On June 13, 2009, he married Heather Kinzie Brownlee in Greeley, becoming a stepfather to Tyler and Maddie Fulling. Sam was a proud member of the Blue Knights and the Harley Owners Group. He enjoyed the summer so he could camp, fish, hike, and ride his Harley. He loved spending time with his wife and children. He is preceded in death by his father, Kent Brownlee. Survivors include his wife Heather, the children and baby Harley. His mother, Nelda. His brother, Michael and wife, Deborah and their children Kai, Kano of Yokosuka, Japan, and Brandon Brownlee of El Cajon, California; Close family friend Princess; countless friends, partners, and colleagues of the law enforcement community. Funeral Services will be held Monday November 29th, 2010 at 10:00a.m. at UNC Butler Hancock located at 20th Street and 14th Ave, in Greeley. Arrangements entrusted to Adamson Funeral and Cremation Services.
